Sweden August 2007 – Photos

Photos from my very short trip to Sweden in August.

Only three nights, but still had time to fit in an 80's club .. unplanned of course, Per said Andy Bell (Ride) was doing a night there… this wasn't the case. But the 80's club was fun though after a few drinks.

Amazing how teenagers knew all the words to these 80's songs I grew up not liking then and not much liking now. Odd to see the girls singing so earnestly to Sam Fox, it didn't even seem ironic. On the other hand they'd taken the 80's fashion to heart too, which at least is more interesting to look in a night club than places full of skinny jeans and t-shirts.

I also got to see a lot more of Skansen, the small island close to Stockholm's main city and Old Town area. This time as well as the fun fair, I visited the other side full of interesting buildings, statues (including one of Aidan Kenny) and, for want of a better work, folk-gardens, where people come to keep the plants, attend allotments or just pic-nic as if it were their own garden.

Despite having travelled to Stockholm many times I had never been on the tram, and while they don't quite match those of San Francisco, they are the nicest way to get to Skansen, though I did feel extra touristy taking it.

Anyway, here are the photos
